Funeral Home Oklahoma – Harger IOWA Obituaries

The Porter funeral home in Iowa is owned by the husband and wife Paul and Barbara Harger. They have been in business for more than 35 years. Paul started his passion for fine wood work when he was a young boy growing up in New York City. He was very much fascinated with architectural details, fine art, music, and the outdoors. He attended the John Kennedy presidential inauguration as a 16-year-old.

He worked for a contractor before he retired to start a fine dining restaurant. Barbara was a talented writer and also became a well known fairgrounds artist. They both were very close to their son Jacob, who was born in advertising and was very good at it. Both of them wanted to write about the life of their son and passed away in 2011.

The Harger’s own family has been in the business for over three centuries. They started out in a tiny cabin on the banks of the Wapiti river about an hour east of iodized. It later became a fine dining and funeral home. When the Harger’s had to move, they sold the land to a developer and moved to a new location on the current west shore of Pueblo. The new location is in a horseshoe shape where the Harger’s originally sold the land. They built a lovely lodge there without a door.
